A new and improved redesign for the 2010 Cadillac SRX is being unveiled at the 2009 North American Auto Show in Detroit this month. Here’s a sneek peek at what you can expect.
One of the differences you’ll find in the 2010 Cadillac SRX is that it’s smaller in both length and wheelbase. Also, it’s a front wheel drive instead of rear wheel. There is still the all-wheel option of course.
Where you will notice major changes is in the engine lineup. Gone is the 4.6 Northstar V-8. You will now have 2 choices; a 3.0 liter direct-injection V-6 that produces 260 hp and 221 lb-ft torque or the 2.8 liter turbocharged V-6 that produces 300 hp and 295 lb-ft torque.
The turbo option comes via the Saab 9-3. Both engine options are mated to a 6-speed auto transmission with manual shift control.
Apparently, the 2010 Cadillac SRX is focused on competing with the Lexus RX.
I’m not sure this new redesign helps the Cadillac, and General Motors image. When I look at this I don’t see a Cadillac. To be honest, I see this as a glorified Equinox or Saturn Vue. And now Cadillac is going with a turbo? I’m thinking this redesigned and downsized Cadillac SRX has a lot more to do with profits than with giving people what they expect in a Cadillac.
I’d be interested in hearing your opinions on the new 2010 Cadillac SRX. Will it be a hit or miss with buyers? Do you like what they’ve done here?
