Barry Manilow Music Used As Punishment In Court

If you are not a big fan of Barry Manilow music or Barney and Friends, you may want to steer clear of Judge Paul Sacco in Fort Lupton Municipal Court in Colorado. It seems that the good judge has gotten fed up with repeat noise ordinance offenders and has instituted a new form of punishment.

Violators are now being forced to listen to one hour of Barry Manilow classics at ‘high volume’ or the theme from Barney, the lovable children’s character.

According to Judge Sacco, the offenders have repeatedly been ticketed for playing car and home stereo’s too loud and disturbing the peace. He went on to say, “This is a way, when I look back, of teaching manners to people”.

Apparently, court officials take a survey after each offender is done with their one hour session to find out if they liked any of the music. If they say yes to any songs, the court removes it from the play list and inserts a different tune. This is to insure that violators hate every song.

Amazingly, it seems to be working well. Judge Sacco claims that he is not seeing the repeat offenders like he was when only a fine was levied. No word on how Barney or Barry Manilow feel about the new tactic.
