Yes, you heard it right. A local Boston, MA area elementary teacher slept with a boy 300 times over a 1.5 year period. Christine McCallum, 29, is said to have given the boy alcohol and had sex with him throughout her home in Feb 2006 to Nov 2007. (Video is below)
McCallum has been charged with 7 counts of statutory rape in the incident.
According to the story, McCallum and the young boy met in a public library in 2005. What followed was some tutoring and then dinners at her home and rides to and from various places. Shortly thereafter the relationship turned sexual.
Reports say that the teacher began giving the youngster vodka, rum and jello shots, followed by sex. All of this is said to have occured at times while her husband was even asleep upstairs.
The boy states that they had sex every other day and a total of approximately 300 times. She apparently ended the relationship when she found out the boy was talking to other girls.
While waiting trial on the rape charges, McCallum has been fired from her teaching position and must wear a monitoring device on her ankle.
It amazes me that these types of stories continue to happen month after month. Last month it was a female teacher being caught with a boy in her vehicle late at night in an elementary school parking lot. And the list goes on.
You know, there was a time when people didn’t have to be told that sex with children was WRONG, not illegal, but WRONG. There was a time when there was a set of sexual boundaries that was understood. Rape was bad, having sex with children was bad, having sex outside of marriage was bad.
There are societal mores for a reason. When a society abandons moral foundations, the society is eventually destroyed. It happened to the Greeks, it happened to the Romans, and if we are not careful, it will happen to us.
Mores create character and character is the foundation that heros and great leaders come from. Why do we have so few true leaders in our society? Because no longer have the standards that create them.
Do you really think that people didn’t have sex outside the boundries of religious docterine back then? 75 years ago this kid was old enough to marry this teacher. Did people REALLY think this behavior was wrong back then? Statuory rape is a very modern/western concept that still does not exist in most of the world.
How many 14 year old girls got married to 30 year old men because they were pregnant? How many girls were shipped to convents to have their babies and put them up for adoption, while their parents told everyone that they were staying with a “relative” in Kansas? If you had a bad reputation, you simply moved to a new town, acted “Normal”, and hoped you didn’t run into anyone who knew you.
My wife’s grandfather grew up in a wealthy home and had a wet nurse until he was 16. Do you think their activities stopped at nurishment? Do you think it wasn’t condoned by his parents? Did people consider that rape, or just a very lucky boy?
“Back then”, things were covered up and ignored BY EVERYONE, such as child abuse, domestic violence, marital affairs, teen pregnancy, animal abuse, etc. Even if you were a victim, you said nothing as not to shame your family. People believed that what other people did in privacy was nobody’s business and didn’t get involved. Just because Norman Rockwell didn’t paint it doesn’t mean it wasn’t prevailant in society. These topics simply weren’t considered proper for “mixed company”, so they were never reported in the news.
I think that people were just more naive back then. Do you think your heros had no vices or dirty little secrets?
sadly this will always happen. there are quite a few adults who are unstable and do not think correctly
this has always happened. nothing new here. the only difference now is that this kind of crime is actually big news
