In what is no surprise, the family of Charla Nash has filed a $50 million suit against Sandra Herold, the owner of the chimpanzee that brutally attacked Nash February 16th.
According to the lawsuit that was filed in Stamford, CT Superior Court, it accuses Herold of recklessness and negligence for owning “a wild animal with violent propensities, even though she lacked sufficient skill, strength and/or experience to subdue the chimpanzee.”
Charla Nash remains in critical condition at the Cleveland Clinic, suffering with several injuries. It is said that she lost both hands, nose, lips and her eyelids. She also may be blind and have severe brain damage.
There has been no comment from either Herold or her attorneys, but what can they really say anyway?
This is such a tragic story that should never have happened. Unfortunately, I’m sure it is one that will be repeated in the future as more and more people mistakenly believe they can continue to house wild animals in their home and on their property.
