There was very sad news released today that the huge postal company DHL are to layoff almost 10,000 staff.

It is estimated that approx 9500 will be laid off from locations throughout the U.S and for some reason they will cease to send postage over land and air in U.s from the beginning of 2009.

They are expected to save on operating costs to the tune of $4 Billion but it will dramatically affect their profits as the other major companies will now be able to bid for the services DHL are giving up.

It is unclear as to what it means to the future of DHL but it couldn’t come at a worse time for staff with Christmas just around the corner.

Hopefully they won’t have to close any more offices in the U.S.
