Here we go again. More IBM layoffs are set to be announced. The latest cut calls for 5,000 U.S. workers to lose their jobs. But there’s more to it than that.
The U.S. workers are being cut out in order for IBM to shift many of them over to India.
This new round of cuts will eliminate 4% of IBM’s 115,000 workforce in this nation. This is according to the Wall Street Journal.
This will be the 2nd wave of layoffs at the company in 2009. They eliminated several thousand more in January.
The major issue with this round is that the company is shipping work overseas to India. They can get workers there who will get much lower wages than U.S. workers.
There is no exact word on how many jobs will be going to India.
