The much anticipated Jon And Kate Plus 8 season finale premieres tonight, but not without its fair share of controversy. So, are there really serious issues behind the scenes, or is this just TV hype?   

Jon and Kate Gosselin’s problems are being widely reported everywhere. Several media sources are stating that Jon has been cheating on his wife, while also drinking heavily and partying with college students. Some are saying he is considering a divorce for “a better life”.

Photos being passed around showing Jon being drunk are only feeding to the frenzy. The bigger question though would be…is this just a setup?

It wouldn’t be the first time that a reality series was setup with controversy to simply increase viewership and garner attention from everyone in the media. Why not, it seems to work well.

But, what if it is real? What if Jon is losing it and getting ready to leave Kate and the kids? This would be tragic to say the least. Tragic for everyone involved, especially the kids. It’s a situation that I wouldn’t even want to contemplate.

There is no doubt that having cameras filming your every move and being known by everyone in public has to take a toll emotionally. Yes, there are great rewards on their end, but there is a flipside that few people really consider, and it is real nonetheless.

I’m hoping this is simply contrived and made-for-TV. If it isn’t, I hope that if there truly are serious issues going on, that the family gets counseling and professional help to get things straightened out. We should know more shortly.
