New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was shot in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub overnight. Sources are claiming this was an “accidental shooting”.
Burress was taken to a local New York City hospital and his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
The name of the nightclub is unknown at this time, and no details on what caused the shooting in the first place are being made available. A Giants spokesman had no comment on the issue.
Since Burress, 31, was declared out of this Sunday’s game due to a hamstring injury, he was not making the trip with the rest of the team.
This is just the latest in a string of problems for the player this year. Earlier, he was fined $117,000 for going AWOL and not letting the team know where he was. He has also been involved in two domestic disturbances this past summer.
