It appears that you can now stick a fork in the Rex Grossman era. The NFL Chicago Bears are officially letting the QB go at 11:00PM today.
Bears fans have been blaming Grossman for their Super Bowl loss a couple of years ago, and he’s booed on a regular basis.
Where is the next home for Rex Grossman? Reports are circulating that the Dallas Cowboys are seriously interested as a backup to Tony Romo. No negotiations have transpired as of this moment, but talks are expected to take place soon.
When asked about playing for Dallas, Grossman wasted no time in expressing his desire, saying, “”They’ve got all the talent at running back, tight end, wide receiver, offensive line, coordinator. They’ve got everything in place that you’d want. Good weather, new stadium. I’m sure they are going to cover it if it is windy or cold. So that would be the ideal situation to back up. There may be a few others, I’m not sure, but that would be intriguing if I’m in a situation where I have to back up.”
Sounds like he blames his poor play on the Chicago weather. Somehow, I don’t think that is going to fly with Bears fans.
Are the Cowboys really that interested? There are several other QB’s looking for new homes including Brooks Bollinger, Trent Green, Jeff Garcia and Patrick Ramsey among others. Is Rex Grossman the answer? I guess we will have to wait for Jerry Jones to let us know.
