The Sears Tower in Chicago, IL has been around since 1973 and is known around the world, but soon the name will no longer be there.
A British insurance company, Willis Group Holdings, will put its name on the building sometime over the next few months.

The Sears Tower used to be the world’s tallest building. With 110 stories, it held the honor until 1998 when the Petronas Towers in Malaysia opened up.
The Sears Tower is so massive in size that if it were laid down to one story, it would take up 105 acres.
“Having our name associated with Chicago’s most iconic structure underscores our commitment to this great city, and recognizes Chicago’s importance as a major financial hub and international business center,” Joseph Plumeri, chairman and chief executive officer of Willis Group Holdings said in a statement.
“We are delighted to be making this bold move and firmly establishing our leading presence in one of the nation’s biggest insurance markets, and it will be wonderful for all our associates to work under one roof.”
Although the tower will be getting a new name on the outside, Chicago residents say they will not recognize it. In a Chicago Tribune poll, 96% of respondents say they will forever refer to it as the Sears Tower, regardless of what anyone else wants to name it.
