Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays since I was a small child. Although it seems to have become nothing more than a glorified 4 day football feast and a holiday to usher in the Christmas shopping season, Thanksgiving has a deep meaning that should never be overlooked.

I can remember my grandmother decorating the house with everything from Thanksgiving wallpaper to actual miniature displays of pilgrims, turkeys and more. It was a real time of gathering together and giving thanks to God for our country and how we have been blessed and loved as a family.

Today, there are a variety of ways to prepare to begin preparing for the holiday. From Thanksgiving screensavers on your computer to Thanksgiving pictures and many other types of decorations for both the home and workplace.

Naturally, we usually watch some of the games on TV and even some Christmas movies over the weekend as a family, but we never forget the true meaning of Thanksgiving and why it is so important. I would encourage everyone this year to share Thanksgiving in a new and meaningful way with your family. Take the time to give genuine thanks for all you have and how blessed you and your family truly are.
