Who can forget the decade of the 80′s and the popular movie The Karate Kid? Well, we are now learning of a new Karate Kid remake set to begin filming in early 09′. So who is the star in the new film and will it be based on the original?

Will Smith is behind this newest production and it is his son, Jaden Smith who is set to have the role of “Daniel-San!”. The new movie will be based on some of the original story line in that it is about a shy boy who is trained by a martial arts instructor. The difference is that the new movie will be filmed in Bejing, China and not Los Angeles.

No word yet on who wil play the instructor, but the late Pat Morita was nominated for his role in the film’s original playing.

I’m sure the new movie will be a hit when it comes out next summer. It is sure to attract those who were a big part of the 80′s, as well as the younger generation who were not around yet for the original.
