Text messages warning people about a “Walmart gang initiation” tonight in Palm Beach, FL are apparently false.
According to reports, the message reads, “Police are asking all women not to go to any Walmart tonight, there is a gang initiation and three women will be shot. This is not a joke please forward.”
This message was sent to many people throughout the area, causing a lot of stir as you might expect.
Although police and other law enforcement agencies are investigating this latest incident, this is related to other similar incidents throughout the country over the last several years.
Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office released a statement earlier saying, “Please be advised that there has been a text message circulating warning of a planned gang initiation to occur at local Wal- Marts where three individuals will be killed. There have been numerous inquiries regarding the validity of this text message throughout the State of Florida and South Georgia. At this time the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Miami-Dade PD, Broward County Sheriff’s Office and Tallahassee police have found no credible information to substantiate this threat. According to some sources, it appears to be a rumor which began in 2005 from the Memphis, TN area which over the course of the past two nights has become more widespread throughout Florida. Any additional information will be disseminated in a timely manner.”
Although threats like this are almost always a hoax, you never know when something might just happen. Hopefully, the people responsible will be found and dealt with.
