Since 1994, Zap has been plowing ahead in becoming a leader in the electric car market. And their new Zap car, called the Xebra Sedan, is impressive technology to say the least. So, what is it and what does it look like?

With over 30 years of work put into development, this is the perfect commuter car. Say goodbye to the gas pump with a vehicle that runs up to 25 miles on a single charge. The car runs at speeds of up to 40mph and recharges within hours.

The base price for the new Zap car is $11,700, which is considerably lower than the upcoming Chevrolet Volt. With available options ranging from various sound systems and leather seats to a choice of several color options and upgraded batteries, the car is appealing to a wide range of people.

The all steel body features 34 cubic feet of space. That’s plenty of room for a trip to the store and back.

Will Zap find a hungry market and ultimate success? Only time will tell, but from the looks of things I wouldn’t bet against them.
